Fieldmend privacy policy

Back to Privacy center

Effective date: November 2, 2026

Fieldmend is an offline emergency and survival app for Android, made by BaywiseLabs in Tampa, Florida ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.

The short version

  • The app doesn't send your in-app data to us. We have no servers that receive it. If you email us, call us, send a report or join our beta, we receive the information you give us and use it only to answer you, fix the app or run the beta.
  • What you type or save stays on your device, unless you use Android backup (see below). That includes your questions, your location, saved spots, your family plan and your medical ID.
  • No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. The app doesn't include a crash-reporting SDK. Google Play may give us combined app performance and crash data.
  • We never sell or share your information.

What stays on your phone

These stay on your phone and are never sent to us. The only copy that can leave your phone is your own Android backup, if you have it turned on (see "Google Play and Android").

  • Chat questions and AI answers. The AI runs entirely on your phone. Your questions and the answers are never sent to us or to any other company.
  • Your location. The app uses your phone's GPS to show where you are on the offline map, measure distances, point the way and plan walking or driving routes. It reads your location only while the app is open, and only on the phone. The app never asks for background location and never sends your location anywhere.
  • Saved spots, family plan and medical ID. This covers names, birth years, blood types, allergies, medicines, conditions, doctors, contacts, meeting points and notes. All of it is stored in the app's private storage on your phone, where other apps can't read it.
  • Language and appearance settings. These are also stored on your phone.

Sensitive health information

Your medical ID and family plan can include health details. They are used only inside the app. They appear on your screen, and the on-device AI can use them to tailor first-aid answers. We never receive them.

Downloads

The app connects to the internet only when you choose to download something, or open the map download list:

  • AI models come from Hugging Face (huggingface.co).
  • Maps, and the list of available maps, come from GitHub (github.com).

As with any download, those servers see your device's IP address and basic connection details, which they handle under their own privacy policies. We don't receive that information. Nothing you type or save in the app is sent with a download. After the downloads are done, the app works with no internet at all.

Reports, support and beta testing

  • Reporting an AI answer. Each AI answer has a "Report this answer" button. It opens a report in your own email app, addressed to us. You choose whether the report includes your question and the AI's answer, and nothing is sent until you press send in your email app. We receive the email address you send from and what the report says, and we use it only to review the answer and improve the app.
  • Contacting us. If you email or call us, we receive your email address or phone number and what you tell us, and we use it only to answer you.
  • Beta testing. If you join our beta, we receive the email address you join with, and any feedback you send, and use them only to run the beta.

We keep these messages only as long as we need them for these purposes, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.

Google Play and Android

  • Google Play. Google handles installing and updating the app through Google Play, under Google's own privacy policy. Google Play may give us combined statistics about installs, app performance and crashes (for example, which phone model a crash happened on). These don't include what you type or save in the app.
  • Android backup. If Android backup is turned on, Android may include the app's data in your phone's backup to your own Google account. That's so a new phone can restore it. Google encrypts that backup, and we can't access it. You can turn backup off in your phone's settings.
  • Copying. When you copy coordinates or a phone number, it goes to your phone's clipboard, where other apps on your phone may be able to read it.

Permissions

  • Location (precise and approximate): used to show your position on the offline map and to plan routes. Location is optional, and the rest of the app works without it.
  • Internet: used only to download AI models and maps, and the list of available maps, when you ask.
  • Flashlight: the flashlight and SOS signal turn on your phone's light. The app never takes photos or video.

Deleting your information

You're always in control of your app data, because it lives on your phone:

  • Delete people, contacts or saved spots inside the app.
  • Delete everything at once: go to Settings → Apps → Fieldmend → Storage → Clear data.
  • Uninstall the app: this removes all of its data from your phone.

We don't hold a copy of your app data. To delete a report or message you sent us, email us and we'll delete it.

Your privacy rights

Some privacy laws give you rights over your personal information, including the GDPR in Europe, the LGPD in Brazil and US state laws such as California's. These rights can include access, correction, deletion and objecting to sale or sharing. Fieldmend doesn't sell or share personal information, and the app doesn't send your app data to us. The only personal information we may hold is what you send us yourself (an email, a report or a beta sign-up). You can ask us to see, correct or delete it at the address below, and we will answer.

Security

Your data stays in the app's private storage, which is protected by Android's security. We recommend keeping a screen lock on your phone, because anyone who can open your phone can also open the app.

Children

Fieldmend is meant for general audiences and isn't directed at children under 13. The app doesn't send personal information to us from anyone, children included.

Medical and safety notice

Fieldmend gives general first-aid and survival information. The AI can make mistakes. The app isn't medical advice and doesn't replace a doctor or emergency services. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the US, 112 in Europe) if you can. The app shows the number for the country you choose.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a future version of the app ever sends any of your information off your phone, we will update this policy first and say so clearly in the app.
